Today Easyhouse.com.sg is going to share two types of commonly sold spring mattress system Spring mattresses are one of the top selling sleep systems in world. The popularity of the spring-mattress system is due to its ability to support body contours and maintaining a correct spinal position while we sleep or rest on the mattress.

Though collectively classified as “Spring Mattresses” there are numerous types of springs design, for example, “Individual Pocketed Spring” and “Bonnell Spring” are the most popular type of spring mattresses.

Individual Pocketed spring or Pocketed Spring:

Individual Pocketed Spring mattresses has been in the market for quite awhile, they are a more superior type of spring mattress. An Individual Pocketed spring mattress is made by an automated machines where the springs are wrapped inside an individual fabric case. The Individual fabric casing with the Pocket Spring springs are then attached to each other to maintain the shape of the mattress. Since only the fabric encasements are attached, the springs or coils inside it can move independently of the springs adjacent to it.

Pocketed spring mattresses are superior to other mattress types due to “Zero motion transfer”. Which means, there will be no disturbance to the sleeping partner as each spring move individually. However, due to the extra materials require constructing an Individual Pocketed Spring System, it would be more expensive comparing to a Bonnell Spring system.

Bonnell Spring:

Bonnel Spring is the earliest spring type technology and is currently use widely in the entry-level spring mattresses. Bonnell springs are made hourglass-shaped, and the ends of the wire are knotted or wrapped around the top and bottom circular portion of the coil and self-tied. With this design the springs are attached together thus creating a more ripple effect on the whole frame. This would means a more bouncy and spring feel for a bonnell spring mattress.

Advantages of a Spring Mattresses:

  • Supports the Back: The single most advantage of Innerspring mattresses is its ability to maintain our body contour while we sleep.
  • Durability: Spring mattresses when properly constructed can offer the same comfort for years together. Deterioration in comfort is among the lowest in spring mattresses when compared to Rubberized coir and Foam mattresses.
  • Better heat ventilation comparing to memory foam and PU foam mattresses.
